We were enjoying the country-side around Pushkar (Rajasthan) with a rented motorbike and we came across these two kind ladies. After a little chatting, the lady in blue asked Kathy to borrow(?) her sigaret lighter, but when we were about to leave, she wouldn't return it :-). You can actually see here holding the lighter very firm in her left hand. :-) Anyway, on the way home the bike gave up and we had to walk with it to a little village nearby where the local mechanic fixed it. Afterwards when we drove back to Pushkar it started to rain and rain like we never thought was possible on this planet(!), so we had to take shelter in an abandoned house close to the road. You're probably not going to believe this, but we had a really great time that day! :-)

Kris, With these photos you could work for National Geographic. They are incredble at getting into people's lives but with a lot of resspect. I love all of your India and Nepal people photos. When I have enough money to get to that side of the world I'll need your help with planning where to go.What a great story too.

Thanks everyone, glad you like this shot!

@Moodaholic: That's right Kenny, i'm surprised you know this! It's shot with my old analog Nikon F301/N2000 on Fuji Velvia slide film, scanned, and of course post and crossprocessed in Photoshop.

A great story and image indeed. The light and colours are often very unique on film. I'm no technical expert but was thinking the same too.

World class image. The coloration is spot in, and the light on the face of the women coudn't be better.

Really great image, I love saturated detail in the foreground and then the washed out look of the background.
