I grew up in the 80s listening to new wave, electropop and classic rock from the 60s and 70s. I was completely blown away by the cover of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' by Storm Thorgerson. I've always been intrigued by all things visual.
In the mid 90s, somebody put a Nikon FE in my hands... this 20-year old camera (at that time) from the 70s was a classic, but what did I know? The first time I tried shooting photos with it, someone had to point out that there wasn't any film inside. In 2000 I started backpacking as far away as possible and meanwhile shooting film and slides with my first (simple, second hand) camera.
My work is eclectic. I have been experimenting with all kinds of techniques and using very different approaches. This has resulted in a portfolio containing a large variety in editing styles, moods and subjects. The last few years, I’m trying to work more series-based in which content is as important or even more so than the pure visual aesthetics.
I had one year of evening classes in photography at Stedelijk Lyceum Cadix (SISA) in Antwerp (2000), a two day workshop with Drew Gardner (2010), and a wonderful two day workshop with Just Loomis (2013).
